The Next Big Thing in Aluminum Foil Container

A common question is whether plastic containers are harmful to health?.

Of course, you should avoid using hot food in plastic containers.

Not only that, everyone knows that plastic cannot be recycled. Excessive consumption of plastic causes many environmental health problems.

A majority of the world's population relies on take-away containers for short-term needs such as for work, vacation, pilgrimage, and so on.

Estimates suggest that approximately 7 billion aluminum foil containers are produced annually. This production rate produces 220 containers every second

According to ScienceDirect's journal

Takeaway food consumption is increasing worldwide. Because of their low recyclability, single-use containers are used for food and represent a significant source of waste and environmental impacts.

Consequently, it is important to identify the best available alternatives and opportunities for improvement to reduce the environmental impact of fast food containers. This study is the first to quantify and compare the life-cycle impacts of the most widely used takeaway containers—aluminum foil containers being one of the best alternatives. If they are recycled in line with the European Union's 2025 waste packaging policy, their impacts will be reduced by 18%, while reducing litter and negative effects on marine life. Implementation of the European Union's 2025 waste packaging recycling policy will reduce all impacts by 2%–60%, including a 33% reduction in global warming potential. This estimate is based on 2025 million takeaway containers used annually in the European Union.

Due to its versatility and multiple uses, aluminum foil is becoming one of the most widely used aluminum products worldwide. With an annual growth of 3.9% in recent years, global aluminum foil consumption reached 5.33 million tons in 2018 and is forecast to reach 6.71 million tons by 2025.
